Sky Series II, 8 pendants
Vitreous enamel, copper, cord
60 × 60 × 1 cm each
This constellation of vitreous enamel pendants responds to photographs of sky vistas captured along my journey between Yuin and Gadigal Country, a passage of shifting horizons and fleeting light. Evolving from my earlier Sky Series, this new iteration focuses on an eight-petalled form, its geometry drawn from a traditional braid knot in The Ashley Book of Knots (1947) by Clifford W. Ashley. The motif becomes a metaphor for continuity, a looped path or return that never quite repeats.
Each pendant is created with layers of opaque enamel, fired and gently abraded to reveal atmospheric veils of blues, blush pinks, soft greys, and white. These painterly surfaces hold the transience of light within their depths, while the enduring substance of vitreous enamel speaks to time’s permanence. In this interplay of fragility and resilience, the series reflects the poetics of the sky and the quiet rhythm of return.
