I am a contemporary jewellery artist and design educator living and working on Yuin Country on the South Coast of NSW, Australia.
I have a background in classical ballet and design, graduating with a Diploma of Dance from the Australian Ballet School in Naarm (Melbourne), followed by a Bachelor of Design, Master of Design (Research) and Doctorate of Philosophy from the School of Art & Design, University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Gadigal (Sydney).
My practice focuses on aesthetics of time and interests in movement, materiality and place through intricately detailed surfaces and forms in paper or metal. These interests are shaped by many years of travelling through the South Coast landscape between Yuin and Gadigal Country and also by the experience of living in nipaluna (Hobart) from 2016-2018 where I worked as Studio Coordinator of 3D Design at the School of Creative Arts and Media, University of Tasmania.
I have been working at UNSW Art & Design since 2018 where I am currently Senior Lecturer. I developed the Object Design disciplinary studio in the Bachelor of Design from 2018-2020 involving jewellery, ceramics and wood. And in 2022, I took up the position of Deputy Head of School (Design) and Director of the Bachelor of Design and Master of Design programs.
I have produced ten solo exhibitions including Still Point at Gallery Funaki (2024), The Stream of Time at Woollahra Gallery (2022), New Terrain in an Old World at Craft + Design Canberra (2017), Infinite Fold at JamFactory (2009), and Mathematical Beauty at the Australian Design Centre (2006). I was artist-in-residence at the Edinburgh College of Art in Scotland in 2006 and at Bundanon on Dharawal Country, NSW, Australia in 2010. My work has been selected for exhibitions in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Korea, Singapore, England, Scotland, Germany, and the USA, and is held in collections including the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, the National Gallery of Australia, and the Art Gallery of South Australia.
I respectfully acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land on which I work, the Jerrinja people of the Yuin nation and the Gadigal and Bidjigal people of the Eora nation. I recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and culture. I pay my respects to their Elders past and present. Indigenous sovereignty has never been ceded.
